Copper Mountain has been named “Nature’s most nearly perfect ski mountain” by the US Forest Service. The city offers 35 miles of majestic alpine beauty on the western edge of Summit County in Colorado. It has easy access to Interstate I-70 and is in close vicinity to two other major ski towns, 7 miles from Frisco, and 20 miles from Vail. Demographics

According to 2011 information for City-Data.com, Summit County is 608 square miles and home to 28,082 residents. The estimated median house or condo value in 2002 was $457.823 with median contract rent being $1,008. The estimated median household income in 2009 was $66,449.

The median resident age in Summit County was 30.8 in 2009. Males numbered 13,697 making up 58.2% of the population with females numbered at 9,851 making up 41.8%.

Copper Mountain Villages

Lewis Ranch is the newest village and is located next to the main village. Along with townhomes and condominiums, it offers family luxury homes in a private, gated community. The homes back up to the base of the Lumberjack ski lift and so there is ski-in and ski-out access. The exquisite, custom homes in Lewis Village were built from 2002 to current, offer between 3 – 8 bedrooms, and often have over 5000 square feet of living space.

Union Creek is located west of the main village and also backs up to chairlifts giving residents ski-in and ski-out accessibility. Homes in the Union Creek Village include newer single-family homes, condos, and townhomes. Smaller units less than 700 square feet are available in Union Creek.

The East Village of Copper Mountain includes a mix of older and newer condo complexes surrounded by the Copper Creek golf course. They offer homes with access to the Super Bee lift giving them ski-in/ski-out access.

Copper Mountain’s Main Village is located at the base of the Flyer and Eagle chairlifts. The Village offers newer condominiums and older complexes. The Village neighborhood includes a grocery store, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.

Festivities and Recreation

Downhill and cross-country skiing are huge recreational activities in Copper Mountain. People also participate in snowshoeing, ice skating, sleigh rides, and dog sledding. The Main Village is alive with festivals including fireworks, free outdoor movies, and concerts throughout the year. Summer activities include miles of hiking and biking trails.

Golfers are thrilled by North America’s highest championship golf course that wanders through forests, lakes, and rivers. The final nine holes of the Copper Creek Golf Course pass across an old mining town and continue through hills that offer a challenge to even experienced golfers.
